According to the Public Relations Office of the Iranian Association of PE Pipe & Fitting Producers (IPPFA), Abdullah Yousefi, at the meeting of the Administrative Council of Shirvan county, proposed water efficiency as one of the top priorities for this organization:  "In this regard, 70% of the budget and resources of this organization are allotted to the water sector."
He added: “Around 32 to 70M Iranian Rials (IRR) per hectare is granted to the development of modern irrigation systems. All landlords with traditional irrigation systems, can register at the offices of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad (MAJ) to receive research, mapping and cost estimation services for free. In addition, they will be provided with up to 85% of the facilities used for implementation.”
“Modern methods improve Irrigation Efficiency from 45% to 70-90%, save 4,400 cubic meters of water, boost the system’s performance by 30%, and reduce the Energy Consumption down by 25% in the Agriculture sector.”, said Yousefi while underscoring the significance of implementing modern irrigation systems.
According to IRNA, 11,000 hectares in this province are under progress for modern irrigation systems installation, which will result in the raise from 22,000 to 33,000 hectares in the province.
Currently, there are 50,000 hectares of agricultural lands in this province capable of modern irrigation and 100% must be completed by the end of The Sixth Development Plan of the country.
By fully implementing the ongoing projects, 66% of potential lands will be covered by modern irrigation.
